Mohammed Salisu affirmed his decision not to represent Ghana at the international level when Alhaji Grusah called him.
The Southampton defender has curved down numerous calls from the Black Stars. He had stated that he was “not ready” to play for Ghana.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) tried everything it could to convince him to vary his mind, but it was hopeless.
After that, enticing Mohammed Salisiu to join the Black Stars before the World Cup final versus Nigeria in March was challenging.
The industry has failed. Mohammed Salisu has declared he won’t play for the Black Stars yet, according to Alhaji Grusah.
Mohammed Salisu said that if he were his son, Alhaji Grusah would not convince him to play for Ghana.
Mohammed Salisu refused to join the Black Stars. His angry retort to Alhaji Karim Grusah was:
“The Chairman of the Black Stars ordered me the task of speaking with Salisu because he is from Kumasi. I called his father, and he put me in contact with him. Salisu arrogantly told me to stay out of his business. He asked if, if he were my son, I would advise him to play for Ghana.
“When I called him, he was infuriated. He insisted several times that I stay out of the situation because he doesn’t want to get into a fight with me. I’m not going to get involved in his situation again. I’m not sure what his issue is with the GFA, but I’m not going to call him again.”
Mohammed Salisu, is now one of the top defenders in the Premier League. He leads the list as far as interceptions made this season are concerned.
